There are many towns and cities around the world and the
United States named after individuals. In fact, if you have read,
"A Brief History of the Gadberry Name and the Family that bears it", you
probably know that our name may be derived from an area and possible village
in Great Britain. But I was surprised to find that there is a street
in Union, South Carolina named Gadberry and there once was a town
in Kentucky named Gadberry. As a matter of fact it still appears
in many late century atlases. The town now sits long abandoned only
a few of its buildings remain.
To find Gadberry Kentucky look to the left of Columbia,
on the map below. If you have a hard time seeing it, just click on
the map for a full size copy.
The few buildings that remain have been posted and identified
by the state of Kentucky. Thelma Juanita, daughter of Archie Gadberry
and grand-daughter of John Daniels made a trip to Gadberry Kentucky in
1995 and took the following pictures.
