"Molten Masterpieces"Observant readers of my pages will remember how I refused to get a copy of this particular disc, since it cuts out two songs from Hard 'N' Heavy: "At the Apartment", and a cover of "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones. So, what's the deal here, you ask? Well, somebody offered to trade me this disc for a piece of crappy vinyl that I had never listened to and don't even remember what it was...so how could I say no?? Still would like to get a proper, uncut copy someday (if it ever gets released...can't even find those cut songs on Audiogalaxy, dammit!)
Okay...HNH possesses a raw, down-and-dirty sound which is quite enjoyable, kinda sounds like NWOBHM (or should that be NWOCHM? Hehe...) The songs on MOM are much darker, and sound more like what everyone thinks Anvil sounds like. Their lyrics are quite bawdy for thrash metal, too.
"Forged in Fire"This one was a perennial "alternate selection" on many CD orders over the last several years, and finally it got picked. I would have given it higher priority if I knew just how KICK-ASS the music was!! Beefy, juicy, greasy, dark & heady metal, definitely the best album these Canuck-rockers have ever done. (Now if they'll only reissue Hard'N'Heavy and Metal on Metal on separate CDs I'll be a happy man!)
"Pound for Pound"After Strength of Steel's atrocious attempt at pop metal, this Canadian outfit has gone back to the heavy duty stuff. "Blood on the Ice" is a brutal glimpse at ice hockey. Ah, those Canadians!
