"Offering"Now this is interesting. I remember seeing this album back in the day when heavy metal was something I wouldn't touch, but it wasn't until I heard the whole thing in a record store (in Anchorage, Alaska, of all places) that I learned not only was it not precisely metal, but it was pretty damn good! Fast-forward rockers such as "Rock & Roll Party", "Video Inspiration" and "Burn the City Down" are offset by slower tunes such as "Steal Another Fantasy" and "Silent Soldiers"; the Montrose cover "I Got the Fire" (also covered by Iron Maiden) is also quite good. "Jennifer" specifically caught my attention because it was my girlfriend's name at the time...
This album was never officially released on CD (hell, it came out in '82, CDs didn't even EXIST back then...); the first copy I bought was my rude awakening to the shantytown of "Reborn Classics", which contained TREMENDOUS surface noise (even worse than my crappy vinyl!) as well as 14 tracks from some cheesy, no-talent 80's glam metal band called Halloween. Then I learned that a far superior, New Zealand "import" existed, minus the noise & Halloween crap, plus three bonus live tracks! Plus, a German guy was auctioning off copies on eBay like no tomorrow...and after some begging and pleading he agreed to sell me a copy at a cut-rate price. Mind you, it wasn't CHEAP by no means...but certainly less than the $80-150 price this sucker normally commands! I do wish he hadn't shipped the thing w/o jewel case...scuffed up the disc pretty bad.
