Blackmore's Night

Current project by Ritchie Blackmore, the world's most overrated guitarist, who apparently got bored of the rock scene with Deep Purple and Rainbow, and decided to perform nothing but acoustic & medieval music instead. Vocals are performed by his wife Candice Night...which explains the band title, I guess.

"Shadows of the Moon" (Japanese import)

  1. "Shadow of the Moon" (5:07)
  2. "The Clock Ticks On" (5:14)
  3. "Be Mine Tonight" (2:51)
  4. "Play Minstrel Play" (3:58)
  5. "Ocean Gypsy" (6:05)
  6. "Minstrel Hall"--instrumental (2:36)
  7. "Magical World" (4:01)
  8. "Writing on the Wall" (4:35)
  9. "Renaissance Faire" (4:16)
  10. "Memmingen"--instrumental (1:06)
  11. "No Second Chance" (5:38)
  12. "Mond Tanz"--instrumental (3:33)
  13. "Spirit of the Sea" (4:50)
  14. "Greensleeves" (3:47)
  15. "Wish You Were Here" (5:02)
  16. "Minstrel Hall"--instrumental, "bonus track version" (2:34)

This is the Japanese import version which I found for $9.99 used, which was a pretty sweet deal until I found out the only bonus track is a boring "bonus track version" of another song, and the domestic version actually contains genuine extra tracks! Ehh, whatever. The music is...well, it's all medieval crap. Lots of mandolins and flutes and horns and bongo drums and stuff. Pleasant, but kinda puts me to sleep by the halfway mark. Ian Anderson (that Jethro Tull guy) makes a guest appearance on "Play, Minstrel Play".
