Blondie

Blondie was THE first band I ever listened to, starting with "Heart of Glass" when I was about 12 years old. (In fact, at first I believed the lead singer's name was actually "Blondie", not Debbie Harry!) I never really got into the band past their Top 40 stuff, and maybe that's my loss, but hey, just LOOK at how many other CDs I own! I CAN'T AFFORD IT!!!

Oh yeah, have you seen the "new" Blondie lately? (Bah, how the hell could you miss 'em????) I can't believe how BADLY Deborah Harry has aged...

"Eat to the Beat"

  1. "Dreaming" (3:07)
  2. "The Hardest Part" (3:41)
  3. "Union City Blues" (3:21)
  4. "Shayla" (3:57)
  5. "Eat to the Beat" (2:40)
  6. "Accidents Never Happen" (4:14)
  7. "Die Young Stay Pretty" (3:33)
  8. "Slow Motion" (3:27)
  9. "Atomic" (4:39)
  10. "Sound-A-Sleep" (4:17)
  11. "Victor" (3:18)
  12. "Living in the Real World" (2:41)

The coolest thing about this album is that they did full-production videos for EVERY SONG here...and this was back in 1979, predating MTv by two years, quite a novelty!! (I wish I had bought/dubbed/stolen that tape back when I had the chance, or at least taped it from TV.) Weird mix of styles here, from all-out punk (title track) to disco ("Atomic") to reggae ("Die Young Stay Pretty").

"Autoamerican"

  1. "Europa" (3:32)
  2. "Live it Up" (4:10)
  3. "Here's Looking at You" (2:58)
  4. "The Tide is High" (4:42)
  5. "Angels on the Balcony" (3:36)
  6. "Go Through It" (2:40)
  7. "Do the Dark" (3:53)
  8. "Rapture" (6:33)
  9. "Faces" (3:51)
  10. "T-Birds" (3:58)
  11. "Walk Like Me" (3:46)
  12. "Follow Me" (3:00)

This is a pretty weird album. Only reason I bought it was for the complete version of "Rapture" (see below).

"The Best of Blondie"

  1. "Heart of Glass" (remix) (4:33)
  2. "Dreaming" (3:06)
  3. "The Tide is High" (4:41)
  4. "In the Flesh" (remix) (2:29)
  5. "Sunday Girl" (remix) (3:03)
  6. "Hanging on the Telephone" (2:21)
  7. "Rapture" (5:36)
  8. "One Way or Another" (3:33)
  9. "(I'm Always Touched by Your) Presence Dear" (2:42)
  10. "Call Me" (theme from American Gigolo) (3:32)
  11. "Atomic" (4:39)
  12. "Rip Her to Shreds" (3:22)

This album was among the first 3 crappy vinyl records I ever bought, and in fact I sold it & repurchased it a number of times.... It's got just about all the Blondie songs I ever care to own, and the remixes sound pretty good since I haven't heard--or don't remember--the originals! My REAL beef here is "Rapture", which edits out the best guitar riff in the whole fucking song!!!

(Oh yes...somehow I remember a version of this album containing two extra songs, am I just hallucinating here? I would think they would be included on the CD version, if it were true...)
