Pat Boone

You know, I thought it would be a cold day in hell before I ever even thought of owning a Pat Boone CD. Well, break out the ice skates, Satan, coz here it is!!

"In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy"

  1. "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" (4:19)
  2. "Smoke on the Water" (3:53)
  3. "It's a Long Way to the Top (if You Wanna Rock'n'Roll)" (4:37)
  4. "Panama" (5:15)
  5. "No More Mr. Nice Guy" (3:06)
  6. "Love Hurts" (4:57)
  7. "Enter Sandman" (3:52)
  8. "Holy Diver" (4:44)
  9. "Paradise City" (4:41)
  10. "The Wind Cries Mary" (4:12)
  11. "Crazy Train" (4:32)
  12. "Stairway to Heaven" (4:59)

When I first heard of this CD (on the Jay Leno show, of all places), I thought it HAD to be a joke. Pat Boone doing covers of heavy metal songs???? Dream on!! Well guess what, fact is TRULY stranger than fiction. Of course they aren't done heavy-metal style, but as big-band versions, with a full brass section, female backup singers, the works. And my review: FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!!!!

Of course, the Trinity Broadcasting Network didn't get the joke, and they were quick to dump Pat's show...ah well, don't worry 'bout it Pat, believe it or not you have actually won my respect...

Oh yes, gotta throw in the links. :) The songs here were originally done by: Judas Priest (the best song on the album, in fact...truly worthy of the original!), Deep Purple, AC/DC, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, Nazareth, Metallica (sort of a stupid rendition), Dio (um, does Pat realize that song is really about the devil? Probably why he threw in a recitation of Psalm 23 at the end...), Guns'N'Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne (with backup vocals singing, "Crazy crazy train, choo! choo!"), and, of course, Led Zeppelin.
