"Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits"CCR put out something like 7 studio albums during their short career, but like hell I'm gonna go tracking them all down...instead, here's this ever-so-popular compilation, which contains virtually all their essentials (except, of course, for "Born on a Bayou"! What's up with that??) LOTS of these songs have been covered by other bands -- "Fortunate Son" by Bob Seger and Reverend, "Travelin' Band" by Def Leppard, "I Put a Spell on You" by Marilyn Manson (!), "Hey Tonight" by Lords of the New Church, "Down on the Corner" by Hanoi Rocks, "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" by some metal band I can't recall at the moment, and, of course, "Proud Mary" by that hideous harpy Tina Turner and her abusive husband. "I Heard it Through the Grapevine", of course, has been covered by everybody. :-)
"Chronicle Volume Two" (CDR)When I was putting together my A-Z Collection (still in progress), I realized that no song would for CCR except "Born on a Bayou", which of course wasn't included on "Chronicle 1", and for some odd reason, I could not locate a decent copy of on Napster, WinMX or anyplace else. And I just KNOW they planned it that way...and by "they", I don't mean the band, since John Fogerty doesn't even have the rights anymore, they were stolen from him by that evil, sinister record exec Saul Zantz, the most toad-like of all evil, sinister record exec's. (I'm sure you know the story, or can look it up elsewhere, but jeezus louise, how fucked is it when you get sued for PLAGIARIZING YOUR OWN SONG??? That and other numerous lawsuits poor J.F. has had to fend off from that monster...) So I have absolutely no moral compunctions against copying this disc from my brother's collection (who's a big CCR fan and doesn't really care who winds up with his money, but hey, that's not my problem) as well as scanning the artwork in the highest resolution possible, heck I even broke my Kinko's boycott to get it done right. So there! And Zantz, if you're reading this...GO EAT A DICK, YOU SLIMY DOG-FELCHER!!! Lol.
Oh, and there really isn't much worth listening to here, aside from "Bayou"...there's a few nifty cover songs, like "Cotton Fields" and "Hello Mary Lou", and the pointless 2nd half of "Susie Q"...so if you really gotta have "Born on a Bayou", try finding it on whichever studio album it originally appeared on, or hell, burn a copy from someone else, like I did. :)
