One time a friend of mine was talking about the band Foreigner,
and I thought he said "Coroner", so I said, "Oh yes, I like Coroner." "No, not Coroner,
Foreigner!" he said. "There's no band called Coroner." "Oh yes there is!" I said, and promptly showed
him the CDs. He was dumbfounded. "I can't believe there's a band called Coroner!"
he said.
"R.I.P."
- "Intro" (1:22)
- "Reborn Through Hate" (4:50)
- "When Angels Die" (4:39)
- "Intro (Nosferatu)" (1:10)
- "Nosferatu"--instrumental (3:31)
- "Suicide Command" (4:16)
- "Spiral Dream" (4:02)
- "R.I.P." (5:33)
- "Coma" (4:13)
- "Fried Alive" (4:37)
- "Intro (Totentanz)" (0:50)
- "Totentanz" (4:11)
- "Outro" (1:15)
Except for the awesome song "Reborn Through Hate" on their compilation CD,
I had never heard this album and thought I never would, until I discovered it was still in
print! Just arrived in the mail 2 days ago, and man this fuckin' thing ROCKS!! In fact I
think I will listen to all my Coroner CDs again to see if their sound has grown on me yet.
"Punishment for Decadence"
- "Intro" (0:12)
- "Absorbed" (3:43)
- "Masked Jackal" (4:46)
- "Arc-Lite"--instrumental (3:20)
- "Skeleton on Your Shoulder" (5:35)
- "Sudden Fall" (4:50)
- "Shadow of a Lost Dream" (4:31)
- "The New Breed" (4:52)
- "Voyage to Eternity" (3:45)
- "Purple Haze" (3:20)
This was the first Coroner album I ever bought, though it was a long time before I upgraded
to the CD (which has Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" a somewhat comical
bonus track). "Absorbed" is a monster thrash monster! The vocals are mixed WAY far back for
a totally unique sound.
"No More Color"
- "Die By My Hand" (3:43)
- "No Need to Be Human" (4:24)
- "Read My Scars" (4:27)
- "D.O.A." (4:15)
- "Mistress of Deception" (4:53)
- "Tunnel of Pain" (4:23)
- "Why it Hurts" (3:43)
- "Last Entertainment (T.V. Bizarre)" (3:58)
This isn't a bad album, but for some reason I never got into it.
"Mental Vortex"
- "Divine Step (Conspectu Mortis)" (6:22)
- "Son of Lilith" (6:53)
- "Semtex Revolution" (5:30)
- "Sirens" (5:35)
- "Metamorphosis" (5:32)
- "Pale Sister" (4:55)
- "About Life" (5:18)
- "I Want You (She's so Heavy)" (7:14)
Never got into this one either. The first song starts out with a wicked groove, but after
that it starts to sound...I hate to say this...derivative! The cover version of the
Beatles' "I Want You" is worth the price of admission however.
"Grin"
- "Dream Path" (1:10)
- "The Lethargic Age" (4:16)
- "Internal Conflicts" (6:19)
- "Caveat (to the Coming)" (6:38)
- "Serpent Moves" (7:37)
- "Status: Still Thinking" (6:14)
- "Theme for Silence"--instrumental (1:32)
- "Paralized, Mesmerized" (8:07)
- "Grin (Nails Hurt)" (7:22)
- "Host" (8:23)
Finally got this to fill up my collection. Definitely their most progressive album,
with some WEIRD music towards the end...
"Coroner"
- "Benways World" (0:49)
- "The Favorite Game" (4:30)
- "Shifter" (4:50)
- "Serpent Moves" (6:13)
- "Snow Crystal"--instrumental (0:37)
- "Divine Step (Conspectu Mortis)" (6:21)
- "Gliding Above While Being Below" (3:37)
- "Der Mussolini" (3:39)
- "Last Entertainment (T.V. Bizarre)" (3:51)
- "Reborn Through Hate" (4:02)
- "Golden Cashmere Sleeper, Part 1" (4:57)
- "Golden Cashmere Sleeper, Part 2"--instrumental (4:59)
- "Masked Jackal" (5:01)
- "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" (7:15)
- "Grin"--No Religion Remix (8:25)
- "Purple Haze"--Radio Live Cut (3:45)
Sort of a greatest hits album, with several new tracks thrown in. Sounds like
Voi Vod in places! The perfect CD for the casual Coroner
fan.
