John Cougar

Now HERE'S a real dilemma. What do I do if I ever start buying the CD's where John Cougar changed his name to John Mellencamp? Do I alphabetize them separately, or keep them together? Ah, the torture...probably best to just ignore anything that doesn't have the "Cougar" name in it!

"American Fool"

  1. "Hurts so Good" (3:42)
  2. "Jack & Diane" (4:16)
  3. "Hand to Hold on To" (3:25)
  4. "Danger List" (4:28)
  5. "Can You Take It" (3:35)
  6. "Thundering Hearts" (3:40)
  7. "China Girl" (3:34)
  8. "Close Enough" (3:38)
  9. "Weakest Moments" (4:07)

A fun, good-times rock and roll album released before John Cougar got off on his I-Was-Born-In-A-Small-Town kick. (Although "Jack & Diane" is fairly small-townish.) And quite a steal for only $4.99! "Thundering Hearts" is the standout tune here.

"Uh-Huh"

  1. "Crumblin' Down" (3:35)
  2. "Pink Houses" (4:45)
  3. "Authority Song" (3:49)
  4. "Warmer Place to Sleep" (3:45)
  5. "Jackie O" (3:03)
  6. "Play Guitar" (3:22)
  7. "Serious Business" (3:25)
  8. "Lovin' Mother Fo Ya" (3:05)
  9. "Golden Gates" (4:03)

More good-time rock 'n' roll by The Guy From A Small Town. "Play Guitar" was always cool to hear on the radio, thanks to the line "Forget all about that macho shit!" which often was played unbleeped..."Authority Song" and "Crumblin' Down" are pretty good too, and "Pink Houses", of course, is the token small-townish song here.
