Demon

Although technically a NWOBHM band, Demon's sound is more along the lines of progressive/power metal. I've only heard their first four albums.

"The Plague"

  1. "The Plague" (6:17)
  2. "Nowhere to Run" (4:59)
  3. "Fever in the City" (7:27)
  4. "Blackheath" (2:55)
  5. "Blackheath Intro" (1:50)
  6. "The Writings on the Wall" (5:49)
  7. "The Only Sane Man" (5:34)
  8. "A Step Too Far" (6:22)
  9. "Outro" (0:54)

Without a doubt, their best album ever. It's sort of a concept piece about a city under quarantine after a virulent disease breaks out...or something like that. At least, when I read Albert Camus's novel The Plague, I got the same feel from the book as I did from this album...

I was inspired to search for this CD after listening to a tape of my brother's album, and was reminded once again how much crappy vinyl SUCKS...problem was, I couldn't find it ANYWHERE, and NONE of the stores that listed it could get it! It wasn't until after many years that I was browsing through the "completed auctions" portion of eBay, and saw some guy had offered this very CD for a mere ten bucks...AND NOBODY BOUGHT IT. Quickly, I wrote an email to the guy and begged him to send it to me. YEAH BABY!!! This was without a doubt the greatest SCORE I've ever come across on the Net...until I found Hirax, of course...

"British Standard Approved"

  1. "First Class" (4:45)
  2. "Cold in the Air" (2:59)
  3. "Touching the Ice" (4:49)
  4. "Second Stage"--instrumental (3:11)
  5. "Proxima" (3:59)
  6. "The Link (part one)" (2:56)
  7. "The Link (part two)" (3:07)
  8. "New Ground" (6:22)
  9. "From the Outside" (5:38)
  10. "Wonderland" (4:39)
  11. "Hemispheres (British Standard Approved)" (5:55)

Another concept album, even more obscure than the one before it. The sound is much more quiet & melodic, in fact the only fast songs are "First Class", "The Link" (pts. 1 & 2), and "Wonderland" -- with that last one being downright POP metal! Lots of ambient sounds dominate the rest of the disc. I actually threw this on as an afterthought with an order for some much more rare & desired CDs, and this was the only one I got...oh well.
