Hmm, sounds like Iced Earth music with Blind Guardian vocals. What a surprise. :)
Actually, the musical style ranges all over the spectrum; the mostly acoustic "Fiddler on
the Green", for example, is pure BG, while the faster & more epic numbers, such as
"Heaven Denies" and "My Last Sunrise", fall squarely in the IE category. Admittedly, I'm
not a big Blind Guardian fan, but this album is slowly, very slowly winning me over to
Hansi's style of singing...
I had to plunk down an extra $5 for the digipack edition, which comes with a bonus
track, a cover of Cream's "White Room" (which is fucking AWESOME!! MUCH better than
Helloween's version, which was released a year earlier.)
The digipack also comes with a pretty cool pop-up demon. (I should mention, though, that
"The Whister" is NOT the Jethro Tull song, as cool as that would
have been, and "Gallows Pole" isn't the Led Zeppelin song, either.
And while I'm at it, the band's name has NOTHING to do with the Uriah
Heep album of the same name!)
