Destruction

I remember these guys from WAY back, as one of those bands that I would "never get into." They started off as gutterish black metal and became more streamlined thrash later on.

"Sentence of Death/Infernal Overkill"

  1. "Intro/Total Desaster" (5:28)
  2. "Black Mass" (3:59)
  3. "Mad Butcher" (3:30)
  4. "Satan's Vengeance" (3:16)
  5. "Devil's Soldiers" (3:25)
  6. "Invincible Force" (4:19)
  7. "Death Trap" (5:49)
  8. "The Ritual" (5:10)
  9. "Tormentor" (5:06)
  10. "Bestial Invasion" (4:36)
  11. "Thrash Attack"--instrumental (2:55)
  12. "Antichrist" (3:44)
  13. "Black Death" (7:39)

A compilation of the band's debut EP and their first full-length LP. The Sentence of Death songs (tracks 1-5) are really sloppy and nasty-sounding, kinda funny to listen to. The songs from Infernal are pure speed metal, nonstop riffs played with frenetic energy. A classic all around!

"Mad Butcher/Eternal Devastation"

  1. "Mad Butcher" (4:56)
  2. "The Damned" (3:48)
  3. "Reject Emotions" (6:43)
  4. "The Last Judgment"--instrumental (3:07)
  5. "Curse the Gods" (5:58)
  6. "Confound Games" (4:27)
  7. "Life Without Sense" (6:20)
  8. "United by Hatred" (4:58)
  9. "Eternal Ban" (3:37)
  10. "Upcoming Devastation" (4:02)
  11. "Confused Mind" (6:05)

Another EP/LP compilation, and the best of all their music, I think! Much tighter and cleaner overall, in particular the new version of "Mad Butcher", which far surpasses the version from their debut album. I purchased this CD a long, long time ago, which was a good thing, considering how desperately I was searching for their other ones!

"Release from Agony"

  1. "Beyond Eternity"--instrumental (1:10)
  2. "Release from Agony" (4:41)
  3. "Dissatisfied Existence" (4:31)
  4. "Sign of Fear" (6:41)
  5. "Unconscious Ruins" (4:23)
  6. "Incriminated" (5:19)
  7. "Our Oppression" (4:47)
  8. "Survive to Die" (5:30)

This album is okay, though it never thrilled me much. (I liked the live versions of these songs better.) Unfortunately, this was the final album with lead singer/guitarist "Schmier", whose departure killed the band. (Their followup, Cracked Brain, is the most HORRIBLE piece of crap ever to set foot on this planet!) Best songs here are the title track and "Dissatisfied Existence", both are powerful rockers. The ending of "Survive to Die" contains a classic big-band riff from Glenn Miller's "In the Mood"!

"Live Without Sense"

  1. "Curse the Gods" (5:46)
  2. "Unconscious Ruins" (4:40)
  3. "Thrash Attack"--instrumental (3:02)
  4. "Invincible Force" (4:10)
  5. "Dissatisfied Existance" (4:43)
  6. "Reject Emotions" (6:29)
  7. "Eternal Ban" (5:47)
  8. "Mad Butcher/Pink Panther Theme" (5:02)
  9. "Life Without Sense/In the Mood" (7:31)
  10. "Release from Agony" (4:52)
  11. "Bestial Invasion" (5:26)

I'm not usually fond of live thrash-metal albums, but this one is unusually good, and a great sum-up of the band's career (at least, the part where they were worth anything.) I actually ordered this CD a while ago, but it came with the WRONG CD inside (Sodom's "Agent Orange"), so I sent it back...but before returning it, I decided to listen to it, and found out it *was* the real CD, just mislabelled! Weird...
