The Eagles
I don't understand why people diss this band so much. Yeah, they got the Southern
California vibe thing going, easy-rock conjuring up images of driving down Pacific
Coast Highway into a tequilla sunrise...I suppose you have to have spent most of your
life within 30 miles of Malibu to understand. :-)) The Eagles are a "supergroup"
of sorts, with Don Henley and Joe Walsh
having the best solo careers -- Don Felder's sole success outside the band was his theme
song to the Heavy Metal movie, while Timothy B.
Schmidt had an even more minor hit that I can't even remember the title of. As for Glenn
Frey...Glenn who? Hehehe...
"Hotel California"
- "Hotel California" (6:30)
- "New Kid in Town" (5:04)
- "Life in the Fast Lane" (4:46)
- "Wasted Time" (4:55)
- "Wasted Time (reprise)"--instrumental (1:22)
- "Victim of Love" (4:11)
- "Pretty Maids All in a Row" (4:05)
- "Try and Love Again" (5:10)
- "The Last Resort" (7:25)
"The Last Resort" was written after an administrator at Pepperdine University got into a
car accident on PCH which killed the girlfriend of one of the band members. It's pretty
scathing. I used to do a radio show at Pepperdine's KMBU station and on the LP of Hotel
California that particular track was SCRATCHED INTO OBLIVION! Hmm, can anyone say
"censorship"??
