Frankie Goes to Hollywood
These guys blew wide open in the mid-80's and seemed poised to be the "next big thing" (ha!
how many times have you heard THAT one??) Had some classic videos, especially the Reagan vs.
Chernenko pit fight of "Two Tribes", and there were at least 5 separate versions of "Relax",
3 of which were banned from all video shows! Hmm, anything else? Oh yes, they're gay.
Not that that's any big surprise--they ARE English, after all!--but they were the first to be
totally open about it.

It surprises me how many heavy metal fans dig on this album, judging by people I've met
and CD lists posted on the Internet by other obsessive nuts. Also the track listing here
differs from the crappy vinyl ("Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" was replaced by the totally
shitty "Happy Hi", dammit!) plus the mix of "Two Tribes" is totally different. In fact, I think
I've heard at least 10 different mixes of that song, the best one being the video mix, which
I've never seen on any audio recording anywhere! Their cover of Bruce
Springsteen's "Born to Run" is surprisingly good, and the guitar solo in "Snatch of Fury" is
performed by Steve Howe of Yes.
