"City's Gonna Burn"No, this isn't the original CD (which routinely sells for well over $100), but the recent reissue on Old Metal Records. (I was wondering what they've been up to?) Solid power metal, albeit badly produced.
"No Stranger to Danger"Often panned as their worst album ever, I thought this was pretty good. Production is worlds better than their debut, though still leaves something to be desired. The OMR reissue adds four excellent live tracks, plus the song "Leatherface" from the movie of the same name (aka Texas Chainsaw Massacre part III), thus negating the need to buy that soundtrack (sorry, D-Dog!) Oh yeah, two of the live trax are from their ultra-rare "Holiday in Cambodia" CD single, so this CD is a true gold mine for the Laaz completist!
"Know Your Enemy"The band's first foray into total thrash-metal territory, and oh what a masterpiece it is. It's also quite rare and EXPENSIVE as HELL!! Originally I picked up a copy for the relatively cheap price of $28, but unfortunately it skipped and I had to return it. But, having gotten a taste of this, I quickly picked up a second copy for the rather expensive price of $44.50. Ah well...it's only money...
"Annihilation Principle"This CD was the only one I was lucky to find used for a reasonable price when it first came out. (It's the most common of the Enigma releases, selling in the $20-30 range.) Mostly generic thrash, though with a few standout tracks, especially "Fire in the Hole" and the Dead Kennedys song "Holiday in Cambodia".
As of this date, this is the only Laaz Rockit CD that has yet to be reissued/bootlegged. A generous reader sent me this CDR for free, and to use his words: "as a way of saying thanks for not only helping me discover more bands but also making me aware of Sentinel Steel, The End Records and Restless and Wild Imports." Something all you other people out there can take a lesson from! ;-)
Not much to say about the music, it's good thrash but less energetic and more generic than their earlier releases. The band essentially broke up afterwards.
