Labyrinth

Cheesy, modern Italian power metal. Which, of course, means they sound exactly like every cheesy, modern Italian power metal band.

Ok, I bought this CD for one reason and one reason only -- to test my theory that any band praised to death on The Perpetual Motion Board will actually turn out to be generic, clone-ish and boring. I was right, of course. :) While the songs do have quite a bit of energy and power, and I actually like more than a few songs, there's not a lot here to inspire me to seek out the rest of their catalog, let alone their genre. The best tracks are "Touch the Rainbow" (where they actually gain a bit of a Fates Warning vibe, though more from the pop-metal era of Parallels than anything remotely progessive) and "I Feel You", which I swear must be a cover song since it just sounds so damn good compared to the rest. Ok PM'ers, go ahead and flame away now. :)
