Living Colour

One of the few all-black rock bands, so it is no surprise that a lot of funk and rhythm shows up in their music.

"Vivid"

  1. "Cult of Personality" (4:54)
  2. "I Want to Know" (4:23)
  3. "Middle Man" (3:47)
  4. "Desperate People" (5:36)
  5. "Open Letter (to a Landlord)" (5:32)
  6. "Funny Vibe" (4:20)
  7. "Memories Can't Wait" (4:30)
  8. "Broken Hearts" (4:50)
  9. "Glamour Boys" (3:39)
  10. "What's Your Favorite Color? (Theme Song)" (3:55)
  11. "Which Way to America?" (3:41)

"Cult of Personality" is by far the most popular Living Colour song, and the only one I recognize from this CD. I've listened to it, and it's pretty good, but I hardly remember anything that stands out...

"Time's Up"

  1. "Time's Up" (3:04)
  2. "History Lesson" (0:52)
  3. "Pride" (4:54)
  4. "Love Rears Its Ugly Head" (4:19)
  5. "New Jack Theme" (3:30)
  6. "Someone Like You" (3:47)
  7. "Elvis is Dead" (3:49)
  8. "Type" (6:25)
  9. "Information Overload" (6:11)
  10. "Under Cover of Darkness" (4:16)
  11. "Ology-1" (1:07)
  12. "Fight the Fight" (4:32)
  13. "Tag Team Partners" (0:47)
  14. "Solace of You" (3:36)
  15. "This is the Life" (6:23)

This is probably the best Living Colour CD out there. They took a much harder edge on the title track, but the rest is more in the "Cult of Personality" vein -- especially "Pride", which I think is their best song ever! "Type" is also very good, and "Elvis is Dead" of course speaks the truth... The R&B/rap influence is very predominant here, with a lot of spoken word tracks focusing on black history, and Queen Latifa even guests on one track.

"Stain"

  1. "Go Away" (4:03)
  2. "Ignorance is Bliss" (3:17)
  3. "Leave it Alone" (3:28)
  4. "Bi" (4:46)
  5. "Mind Your Own Business" (3:17)
  6. "Ausländer" (2:38)
  7. "Never Satisfied" (4:05)
  8. "Nothingness" (3:30)
  9. "Postman" (3:31)
  10. "WTFF" (2:15)
  11. "This Little Pig" (3:03)
  12. "Hemp" (1:35)
  13. "Wall" (5:24)

I wasn't much impressed with this album, although the harder tracks such as "Auslander" are very good. I waited a long time to buy this one after I heard it, eventually picked it up for $4.99 or so.
