One of the few all-black rock bands, so it is no surprise that a lot of funk and rhythm
shows up in their music.
"Vivid"
- "Cult of Personality" (4:54)
- "I Want to Know" (4:23)
- "Middle Man" (3:47)
- "Desperate People" (5:36)
- "Open Letter (to a Landlord)" (5:32)
- "Funny Vibe" (4:20)
- "Memories Can't Wait" (4:30)
- "Broken Hearts" (4:50)
- "Glamour Boys" (3:39)
- "What's Your Favorite Color? (Theme Song)" (3:55)
- "Which Way to America?" (3:41)
"Cult of Personality" is by far the most popular Living Colour song, and the only one I
recognize from this CD. I've listened to it, and it's pretty good, but I hardly remember
anything that stands out...
"Time's Up"
- "Time's Up" (3:04)
- "History Lesson" (0:52)
- "Pride" (4:54)
- "Love Rears Its Ugly Head" (4:19)
- "New Jack Theme" (3:30)
- "Someone Like You" (3:47)
- "Elvis is Dead" (3:49)
- "Type" (6:25)
- "Information Overload" (6:11)
- "Under Cover of Darkness" (4:16)
- "Ology-1" (1:07)
- "Fight the Fight" (4:32)
- "Tag Team Partners" (0:47)
- "Solace of You" (3:36)
- "This is the Life" (6:23)
This is probably the best Living Colour CD out there. They took a much harder edge on the
title track, but the rest is more in the "Cult of Personality" vein -- especially "Pride",
which I think is their best song ever! "Type" is also very good, and "Elvis is Dead"
of course speaks the truth... The R&B/rap influence is very predominant here, with a lot of
spoken word tracks focusing on black history, and Queen Latifa even guests on one track.
"Stain"
- "Go Away" (4:03)
- "Ignorance is Bliss" (3:17)
- "Leave it Alone" (3:28)
- "Bi" (4:46)
- "Mind Your Own Business" (3:17)
- "Ausländer" (2:38)
- "Never Satisfied" (4:05)
- "Nothingness" (3:30)
- "Postman" (3:31)
- "WTFF" (2:15)
- "This Little Pig" (3:03)
- "Hemp" (1:35)
- "Wall" (5:24)
I wasn't much impressed with this album, although the harder tracks such as "Auslander"
are very good. I waited a long time to buy this one after I heard it, eventually picked it
up for $4.99 or so.
