Meco
Hey, remember this guy? Meco did some disco remixes of movie themes & such back
in the early 80's, some of which were pretty good...(notice I said "some"...)
"The Best of Meco"
- "Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band"--instrumental (3:47)
- "Empire Strikes Back (Medley): Darth Vader/Yoda's Theme"--instrumental (4:05)
- "Theme from Close Encounters"--instrumental (3:03)
- "Themes from the Wizard of Oz" (2:58)
- "Star Trek Medley, Pt. 1"--instrumental (3:29)
- "Topsy" (3:33)
- "Meco's Theme/3 W. 57"--instrumental (5:35)
- "Moondancer" (4:12)
- "Spooky" (3:26)
- "Love Theme from Superman (Can You Read My Mind?)" (3:16)
- "Werewolf (Loose in London)" (3:51)
- "Star Wars (LP version)"--instrumental (15:49)
- Imperial Attack
- The Desert and the Robot Auction
- The Princess Appears
- The Land of the Sand People
- Princess Leia's Theme
- Cantina Band
- The Last Battle
- The Throne Room and End Title
- "Other Galactic Funk"--instrumental (12:31)
- "The Asteroid Field/Finale"--instrumental (5:26)
Found this mostly instrumental "best of" CD and thought I'd pick it up for a laugh.
Unfortunately, the joke was on me. There's some HORRIBLE material on here...especially
that putrid "Wizard of Oz" selection (ack!), plus a terrible cover of "Spooky" (you know,
the song that goes, "Life is kind of crazy with a spooky little girl like you...")
Basically, anything with vocals here is GUARANTEED to suck. Not even "Meco's Theme" is
as good as I remember it. Oh well, at least the Star Wars stuff is great, especially that
16-minute "LP version" medley.
