Offspring

It's rare that a (non-grunge, non-alternative) rock band comes out these days that really knows how to ROCK. Great stuff!

"Smash"

  1. "Time to Relax"--spoken word (0:25)
  2. "Nitro (Youth Energy)" (2:26)
  3. "Bad Habit" (3:43)
  4. "Gotta Get Away" (3:52)
  5. "Genocide" (3:32)
  6. "Something to Believe In" (3:17)
  7. "Come Out and Play" (3:17)
  8. "Self Esteem" (4:17)
  9. "It'll be a Long Time" (2:43)
  10. "Killboy Powerhead" (2:02)
  11. "What Happened to You?" (2:12)
  12. "So Alone" (1:17)
  13. "Not the One" (2:54)
  14. "Smash" (4:07)
  15. untitled track after "Smash" (1:32)

Initially I wrote this band off as some pathetic Nirvana clone (a la Bush) thanks to the shameless "Smells Like Teen Spirit" ripoff "Self Esteem" -- thankfully, that song turned out to be just a joke, and the album is more in line with the hard-n-fast rocker "Come Out and Play". I also love the lyrics to "Gotta Get Away": "There's demons in my head, and it's more than I can take"...hey, people really ARE reading my mind here! Freakin' conspiracy, man...

"Ixnay on the Hombre"

  1. "Disclaimer"--spoken word (0:44)
  2. "The Meaning of Life" (2:56)
  3. "Mota" (2:57)
  4. "Me & My Old Lady" (4:33)
  5. "Cool to Hate" (2:47)
  6. "Leave it Behind" (1:58)
  7. "Gone Away" (4:28)
  8. "I Choose" (3:54)
  9. "Intermission" (0:48)
  10. "All I Want" (1:54)
  11. "Way Down the Line" (2:36)
  12. "Don't Pick it Up" (1:53)
  13. "Amazed" (4:25)
  14. "Change the World" (4:45)

Haven't had a chance to listen to this one much yet, but "Meaning of Life" and "Gone Away" prove that the band has yet to lose it's hard-drivin' rock edge.
