Pentagram

A slow, gothic-metal band in the same vein as Saint Vitus. Never amounted to much, however...

"First Daze Here: The Vintage Collection"

  1. "Forever My Queen" (2:24)
  2. "When the Screams Come" (2:59)
  3. "Walk in the Blue Light" (5:35)
  4. "Starlady" (5:15)
  5. "Lazylady" (3:48)
  6. "Review Your Choices" (2:57)
  7. "Hurricane" (2:05)
  8. "Livin' in a Ram's Head" (2:16)
  9. "Early Night" (2:51)
  10. "20 Buck Spin" (4:57)
  11. "Be Forewarned" (3:27)
  12. "Last Days Here" (6:08)

This is a collection of unreleased demo tracks dating back as early as 1971 -- surprisingly, the band's sound is nearly identical to that of their 80's & 90's releases. (Or maybe not so surprising, since Pentagram always had a "retro" sound.) Three tracks were rerecorded for later albums -- "When the Screams Come" and "20 Buck Spin" sound basically the same, while "Be Forewarned" is quite different, faster-paced and much more "psychedelic" sounding. All the tracks have been heavily cleaned up and digitally remastered, resulting in a much cleaner sound than any of their regular albums! A good buy if you can pick it up.

"Relentless/Day of Reckoning" (double CD)

  3. "Sign of the Wolf (Pentagram)" (3:10)
  4. "The Ghoul" (5:14)
  5. "Relentless" (3:49)
  6. "Run My Course" (2:46)
  7. "Sinister" (4:33)
  8. "The Deist" (3:48)
  9. "You're Lost, I'm Free" (2:17)
  10. "Dying World" (4:00)
  11. "20 Buck Spin" (4:20)
    disc two: "Day of Reckoning"
  1. "Day of Reckoning" (2:43)
  2. "Evil Seed" (4:39)
  3. "Broken Vows" (4:38)
  4. "When the Screams Come" (3:43)
  5. "Burning Saviour" (9:08)
  6. "Madman" (4:18)
  7. "Wartime" (5:22)

The band's debut album (originally called Pentagram) is FANTASTIC, and I never DREAMED I would find it on CD! Enter, then, the world of online CD shopping, which led me to find this wonderful import title, pairing their first two releases. The song order on Relentless is a bit shuffled around from what I'm used to, but that's no biggie. Day of Reckoning, however, sounds a LOT like Black Sabbath, right down to the "All right now! Won't you listen?" snippet from "Evil Seed" ...sheesh!

"Be Forewarned"

  1. "Live Free and Burn" (3:07)
  2. "Too Late" (4:37)
  3. "Ask No More" (4:06)
  4. "The World Will Love Again" (5:13)
  5. "Vampyre Love" (3:40)
  6. "Life Blood" (7:01)
  7. "Wolf's Blood" (4:26)
  8. "Frustration" (3:36)
  9. "Bride of Evil" (4:34)
  10. "Nightmare Gown" (2:53)
  11. "Petrified" (5:53)
  12. "A Timeless Heart" (2:23)
  13. "Be Forewarned" (7:14)

This CD actually came out over a DECADE after their first two albums, and although the sound hasn't changed much, it failed to catch my attention like their earlier music did. The title track does stand out, though, since it's a lot blues-oriented than their other stuff.
