Your typical thrash-metal band from Phoenix, Arizona. I've sort of lost interest in them
over the years.
"Ignorance"
- "Death Squad" (4:21)
- "Victim of Demise" (3:34)
- "Layed to Rest"--instrumental (2:18)
- "Ignorance" (4:05)
- "No Believers" (3:18)
- "Violent Solutions" (4:13)
- "Rest in Peace" (3:41)
- "Sacred Reich" (3:17)
- "Administrative Decisions" (3:22)
The band's blistering debut album, sounding fresh & heavy even though it's not much
different than other metal bands of the time. :) The lyrics to "No Believers" are really
something to appreciate: "The Bible is a lie/I defy the lying priest..." "Administrative
Decisions" (a song about mass conformity) is "Dedicated to Coronado High and the Class of
'87"--hmm, wonder if there's a story there? A demo version of "Ignorance" appears on
Metal Massacre VIII.
"Surf Nicaragua" (EP)
- "Surf Nicaragua" (4:42)
- "One Nation" (3:20)
- "War Pigs" (6:14)
- "Draining You of Life" (3:15)
- "Ignorance"--instrumental (4:08)
- "Death Squad"--instrumental (4:28)
A nice little EP with a few new songs and a couple live tracks thrown in to boot. The title
track features a neat instrumental riff taken straight from "Wipe Out"! Their cover of
Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" (which also appears on the compilation,
Eternal Masters: A Tribute to Black Sabbath) has been
done better, particularly by Faith No More. (Years later, the band
would contribute a kick-ass version of "Sweet Leaf" to the Hempilation
compilation.)
"The American Way"
- "Love...Hate" (4:06)
- "The American Way" (3:39)
- "The Way it Is" (4:58)
- "Crimes Against Humanity" (6:15)
- "State of Emergency" (6:14)
- "Who's to Blame" (3:39)
- "I Don't Know" (3:12)
- "31 Flavors" (3:18)
Probably the best CD by Sacred Reich, featuring some of their best riffs to date (especially
"American Way" and "State of Emergency".) "31 Flavors" is a hilarious rap/funk ditty that gives
word to many non-metal bands.
"A Question" (CD single)
- "A Question" (5:25)
- "Let's Have a War" (2:20)
- "Who's to Blame" (3:39)
I got REAL lucky and found this rare CD single for only 99 cents! "Who's to Blame" is from
The American Way but the other two tracks are previously unreleased. "Let's Have a War"
is by some punk band (Fear, I think...I can never remember.)
"Independent"
- "Independent" (3:38)
- "Free" (4:34)
- "Just Like That" (5:42)
- "Supremacy" (2:37)
- "If Only" (3:46)
- "Crawling" (6:30)
- "Pressure" (2:47)
- "Product" (3:44)
- "I Never Said Goodbye" (7:46)
- "Open Book" (4:21)
- "Do It" (2:24)
Their "Headbanger's Ball" debut is more generic and bluesy-sounding than their other stuff.
I never really got into it.
"Heal"
- "Blue Suit, Brown Shirt" (2:27)
- "Heal" (3:42)
- "Break Through" (3:37)
- "Low" (4:03)
- "Don't" (2:51)
- "Jason's Idea" (0:39)
- "Ask Ed" (4:07)
- "Who Do You Want to Be?" (2:22)
- "Seen Through My Eyes" (3:18)
- "I Don't Care" (3:16)
- "The Power of the Written Word" (2:37)
Only reason I bought this was because it's getting increasingly hard to find these days.
Sounds a lot like the bluesy-metal of Independent, nothing to recommend really...even
their cover of Oingo Boingo's "Who Do You Want To Be Today?" falls
flat.
