This album's basically a compilation of the two albums Neal Schon did with Jan Hammer, with that cool "Miami Vice Theme" thrown in as well. The only song I've heard before (other than MVT) is "No More Lies", a huge rocker which sounds not unlike the H.S.A.S. project Schon did around the same time. Other songs range from fairly cool rockers ("Wasting Time") to crappy rockers ("I'm Down", "Sticks and Stones") but overall sounds quite similar to the early Journey music, plus a few spacey, Santana-like instrumentals. (One serious gripe I have with tracks 7-9, the piano riff from "Who's Crying Now" plays through ALL THREE SONGS, completely out of time with the music!) Apparently, Schon isn't the only Journey guy involved here..."Self Defense" was co-written by Steve Perry & Jonathan Cain, and features Ross Vallory & Steve Smith on bass & drums. "Covered by Midnight" is also co-written by Perry.
