Shooting Star

Decent arena-rock band from Kansas City. They had some mild success in the early 80's, but never amounted to much.

"Shooting Star/Hang on for Your Life"

  1. "You've Got What I Need" (3:51)
  2. "Don't Stop Now" (4:38)
  3. "Higher" (4:23)
  4. "Just Friends" (3:59)
  5. "Bring it On" (4:49)
  6. "Tonight" (4:42)
  7. "Rainfall" (3:37)
  8. "Midnight Man" (2:50)
  9. "Last Chance" (6:54)
  10. "Flesh and Blood" (5:48)
  11. "Hang on for Your Life" (3:22)
  12. "Are You on My Side" (3:15)
  13. "Teaser" (3:15)
  14. "Hollywood" (4:10)
  15. "Breakout" (3:39)
  16. "You're So Good to Me" (3:48)
  17. "She's Got Money" (3:55)
  18. "You've Got Love" (4:53)

A 2-in-1 compilation of Shooting Star's first two albums, which I used to have on crappy vinyl but sold a long time ago. One song from each album was deleted--"Sweet Elitia" I could care less about, but "Stranger" was one of the best songs from their debut (at least I think so, I can't find my tape of the original crappy vinyl anywhere...)

Oh, for a long time this was the ONLY Shooting Star CD available, and since it was long out of print, would fetch BIG BUCKS on eBay!! Now, of course, it ain't worth crap. :( Oh well, just more evidence of why I'll never be a successful trader...

"Burning"

  1. "Preview"--instrumental (1:32)
  2. "Straight Ahead" (3:16)
  3. "Taken Enough" (3:35)
  4. "Go for It" (3:36)
  5. "Burning" (6:46)
  6. "Winner" (3:28)
  7. "Reach Out I'll Be There" (3:50)
  8. "Train Rolls On" (3:58)
  9. "Dreams" (4:08)
  10. "Reckless" (4:19)
  11. "Theme" (1:18)

Dunno why, but consider how I forever longed for this album to come out on CD, getting this reissue seemed downright anticlimactic...but enough of that maudlin crap. This album's strength lies primarily in three incredible songs: "Preview/Straight Ahead", "Burning", and "Winner". AWESOME stuff!! "Taken Enough" is also quite good, as well as their cover of that Four Tops hit, "Reach Out I'll Be There". Oh, doesn't the cover art seem awfully similar to that of Judas Priest's Screaming for Vengeance??
