Spinal Tap

All right, this band doesn't really exist...but they're worth a laugh anyway.

"This is Spinal Tap" (movie soundtrack)

  1. "Hell Hole" (3:06)
  2. "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You (Tonight)" (2:35)
  3. "Heavy Duty" (4:26)
  4. "Rock and Roll Creation" (4:06)
  5. "America" (3:29)
  6. "Cups and Cakes" (1:31)
  7. "Big Bottom" (3:31)
  8. "Sex Farm" (3:19)
  9. "Stonehenge" (4:36)
  10. "Gimme Some Money" (2:24)
  11. "(Listen to the) Flower People" (2:33)

The soundtrack continues the joke in the movie by passing this off as a "compilation" album, right down to pictures of the band's previous albums! (Which, of course, don't exist.) And I tell ya, these guys catch every heavy-metal cliche perfectly..."Rock and Roll Creation", "Big Bottom", "Stonehenge" and others are all bombastic, over-the-top creations that would have been right at home on a Quiet Riot album! Oh yeah, the three main actors from the movie (Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer) all sing and play their own instruments here (which pretty much suggests that heavy metal's an art form that can be mastered by ANYONE...)

"Break Like the Wind"

  1. "Bitch School" (2:50)
  2. "The Majesty of Rock" (3:55)
  3. "Diva Fever" (3:06)
  4. "Just Begin Again" (4:53)
  5. "Cash on Delivery" (3:03)
  6. "The Sun Never Sweats" (4:23)
  7. "Rainy Day Sun" (3:42)
  8. "Break Like the Wind" (4:35)
  9. "Stinkin' up the Great Outdoors" (2:50)
  10. "Springtime" (4:02)
  11. "Clam Caravan" (3:37)
  12. "Christmas with the Devil" (4:33)
  13. "Track 13"--unlisted (2:08)
  14. "All the Way Home" (2:08)

Umm...not sure why I bought this, in fact I'm not sure why it was recorded in the first place, except to make more money for the greedy record companies. All right, I suppose "Majesty of Rock" delivers, and it's nice to finally get "Christmas with the Devi" on CD, but the rest pretty much blows ass...and doesn't come close to matching the perfect parody of This Is Spinal Tap (the movie OR the album.)
