"The Dream of the Blue Turtles"Sting's first solo album is quite a departure from his music with The Police, who had permanently broken up by this point. Lots of crap, shit pop songs (esp. "Love is the Seventh Wave", which mocks the lyrics to "Every breath you take...every cake you bake" uhh YEAH whatever!) but there's some real gems on here, especially "Russians" (a creepy song that doesn't have the same resonance now that the Cold War is over), "Moon Over Bourbon Street" (yay, the Vampire Lestat!), "We Work the Black Seam" ("One day in a nuclear age..." yeah, it's outdated too), and the genuinely beautiful "Fortress Around Your Heart". There's also a jazzed-up remake of "Shadows in the Rain", which is superior to the Police's version IMHO.
"Bring on the Night" (2CD live set--PERSONALLY AUTOGRAPHED!!!)I used to work security in a resort area where Sting lived, and struck up a friendship with some guy who worked for him. I finally managed to get him to have Sting autograph a couple of my CD's...yeah, baby!! (I'm not sure what happened to my copy of Nothing Like the Sun, though...probably sold it like an idiot.)
Oh yeah, gotta talk about the music...well, this is a nice, jazzy live album, with many Police songs done in a completely different style. That's all I can think to say about it...
