Supertramp epitomizes all those 70's arena-rock bands which totally lost their
popularity in the 80's because they weren't photogenic enough for video...there's
only three albums that I consider worthwhile, and here they are. (I've also got a
solo CD by singer Roger Hodgson.)
"Crime of the Century"
- "School" (5:35)
- "Bloody Well Right" (4:26)
- "Hide in Your Shell" (6:52)
- "Asylum" (6:30)
- "Dreamer" (3:30)
- "Rudy" (7:07)
- "If Everyone Was Listening" (4:05)
- "Crime of the Century" (5:20)
A nifty album with a spacey cover. That's all I can think of to say...
"Even in the Quietest Moments"
- "Give a Little Bit" (4:08)
- "Lover Boy" (6:50)
- "Even in the Quietest Moments" (6:26)
- "Downstream" (4:01)
- "Babaji" (4:50)
- "From Now On" (6:18)
- "Fool's Overture" (10:51)
"Give a Little Bit" was one of my favorite songs ever, in fact one of the few songs
I ever learned to play on guitar (a pastime I discarded after bombing terribly at a
talent show...ack.) This one's especially pleasant to listen to, with lots of soft,
acoustic tracks ending in the progressive masterpiece "Fool's Overture".
"Breakfast in America"
- "Gone Hollywood" (5:14)
- "The Logical Song" (4:08)
- "Goodbye Stranger" (5:47)
- "Breakfast in America" (2:37)
- "Oh Darling" (4:01)
- "Take the Long Way Home" (5:02)
- "Lord is it Mine" (4:04)
- "Just Another Nervous Wreck" (4:22)
- "Casual Conversations" (2:58)
- "Child of Vision" (7:23)
Ahh yes, their "hit" album...some of their most recognizable songs are here, in
particular "The Logical Song", "Goodbye Stranger" and "Take the Long Way Home". Some
of the music is a little dumb, but I especially like the looong instrumental ending
of "Child of Vision"...
