Tears for Fears

Judging by the music these guys put out, they must have had really fucked-up childhoods...

"The Hurting"

  1. "The Hurting" (4:17)
  2. "Mad World" (3:46)
  3. "Pale Shelter" (4:24)
  4. "Ideas as Opiates" (3:46)
  5. "Memories Fade" (5:05)
  6. "Suffer the Children" (3:52)
  7. "Watch Me Bleed" (4:19)
  8. "Change" (4:14)
  9. "The Prisoner" (2:55)
  10. "Start of the Breakdown" (5:01)

Brilliant...absitively, posolutely brilliant. I just can't get enough of the mournful ennui and/or barely repressed rage present in each song. "The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had..."; "I can't operate on this failure when all I want to be is completely in command..." Ooh yeah!! Didn't I say these guys must have had fucked up childhoods?? Nice to see I'm not the only one!

Oh yeah, the CD cover is completely different from the original crappy vinyl (which was just the two guys in the band standing at the edge of a lake or something), but since it's got a cute, emotionally distraught little boy on it, I'm not complaining. :)

"Songs from the Big Chair"

  1. "Shout" (6:32)
  2. "The Working Hour" (6:31)
  3. "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" (4:11)
  4. "Mothers Talk" (5:10)
  5. "I Believe" (4:54)
  6. "Broken" (2:38)
  7. "Head over Heels/Broken (live)" (5:02)
  8. "Listen" (6:50)

Here's an example of a CD that took forever to enter my collection, merely because I've already picked out half a dozen or more CDs by the time I get to the "T" section. :) Not to mention that it's not particularly rare or exciting....well, at long last, I started at "P" one day, and found this thing for just $5.99, so it finally made it to the checkout counter.

Truly, this is where they kinda popped-out on their sound, especially on that...one...HORRIBLE SONG!!!! (I won't even mention it's name, except it's got "World" in the title, and I had to suffer through it EVERY WEEK when watching the Dennis Miller show!!) On the other hand, "Shout" is a great tune, maintaining the "tormented childhood" theme from their debut; "Working Hour", "Listen" & "I Believe" are really slow & moody, whereas "Mothers Talk" & "Broken" are faster & more guitar-oriented. "Head over Heels" is another poppy tune, but for some reason I like it a whole lot more than that ONE song...

"Sowing the Seeds of Love" (single)

  1. "Sowing the Seeds of Love" (6:50)
  2. "Tears Roll Down" (3:16)
  3. "Shout"--U.S. remix (8:00)

Huh...I still have this? Thought I sold it years ago...ah well, might as well keep it, the song's got a really neat Bob Dylan feel to it...
