Whiplash

"Power and Pain" (PriceKillers series)

  1. "Stage Dive" (3:09)
  2. "Red Bomb" (5:17)
  3. "Last Man Alive" (3:31)
  4. "Message in Blood" (4:04)
  5. "War Monger" (3:17)
  6. "Power Thrashing Death" (4:13)
  7. "Stirring the Cauldron" (4:17)
  8. "Spit on Your Grave" (2:48)
  9. "Nailed to the Cross" (4:04)

Had to buy this original pressing since the 2-on-1 CD makes hideous crackling noises throughout these songs. :( I don't like what they've done to the artwork, but hey, whatever. Music here is all over the place, with a guitar tone that sounds like a basket of wild snakes. Kinda like Rigor Mortis with a screechy vocalist.

When I first got this 2-albums-on-1-CD set by this New Jersey metal trio, it made such a hellacious crackling noise that I thought my cheap-ass speakers had just blown out!! Unfortunately, I soon learned that yup, the CD itself was defective, goddammit. (And it's not just this copy either, the ENTIRE PRINT RUN was fucked!! Whatever happened to pride in manufacturing?!?) Luckily the Ticket to Mayhem tracks sound perfectly fine, so that saves me the hassle of upgrading to the "Price Killers Series" version...for now, at least. :) The music here's just as thrashy as their debut, a shade better in fact.
