Introduction by Ralf 6/12/00:
The Cardinal’s Collection was started as a way for me to keep the spirit of a very selfless person alive. This man was known well by many people, and most referred to him as The Minister of Metal. The Minister knew his rock and metal better than anyone I have ever known. Often, I would receive tapes in the mail appropriately-title "The Ministers Montag." Sometimes the tapes had a theme, sometimes not. That’s what is not important. What is, however, was his undying desire to keep spreading the word of rock and metal everywhere. I especially liked his tapes of obscure and hilarious songs.
Soon after having hung out at an Iced Earth show in Detroit, I learned of his unfortunate passing in a vehicular accident. I was not close friends with The Minister, but was terribly saddened. Then one day, I was overcome with a feeling of putting together a bunch of tapes and sending them out to all my metal friends. In doing so, I felt as if it were something the Minister would think was cool indeed. So I did as such. And with each tape I mail out, I do so in memory of Ron McPherson. The Cardinal’s Collection is dedicated to you Ron.
