What's old, what's new, what's borrowed & blue....

5/15/04: Not a lot of new CDs this month...why, you ask? Well, it's very simple...I bought myself a DVD player for Christmas, and guess where my CD budget is going?? It's amazing how simple it is to exchange one obsession for another...

So I suppose your next question is: "When can we expect a DVD Gallery?" Well...here's the thing. I'm hoping to FINALLY upgrade to DSL in the near future (probably by the end of summer), which (a) won't be through Netease, (b) will cost a helluva lot more than I'm paying now, and (c) almost certainly won't include enough webspace to host these pages. I suppose I could add one of those cheesy PayPal links begging for donations to keep this page running here, but...well, I'm not sure anybody's reading this anymore, ever since the URL got moved without telling me in advance (grr....) Seriously, I used to get six to ten emails per week, but since January, I've gotten only TWO! Only TWO STINKING EMAILS!! (Thank you, by the way.) I'm positive a lot of people just assumed I've vanished into cyberspace like so many other personal webpages that can no longer afford the bandwidth, which is ironic, since I've gotten no complaints from my ISP about the insane amount of traffic I used to get...

Nothing's written in stone yet, of course. So if any of my fans are still out there reading this, feel free to write me email begging me to stay online -- or telling me good riddance, whatever. :) That at least will tell me if there's still enough readers to bother continuing with this arduous obsession...oh, and offers of money and/or free hosting wouldn't hurt, either. (Hint, hint.)

I wanna thank my ISP for not informing me of the change until it had already happened, instead of three months ago when I called them and asked if their server upgrades were going to affect anything, and they said, "Oh, not at all! Don't worry about it!" Stupid lying bastards...

7/18/03: I woke up this morning to find my inbox filled with letters from people outraged by this article: Metallica Sues Canadian Band Over Use Of E & F Chords.

Uhh...guys? It's a parody site, ok? But don't feel bad...the message boards I browse on are flooded with people who also got duped. I guess the moral is, Metallica's done so many retarted things, that even something this dumb can be accepted as fact?? Maybe it really is the beginning of the end for them...one can always hope.
But if they *really* wanna sue somebody, they should sue "The Osbournes" for all those shots of their house filled with DOG SHIT. Because when I think of DOG SHIT, I think of Metallica. Their whole career now is based on making DOG SHIT, and any TV show or documentary or kennel club that shows DOG SHIT owes them money!!!!!!

7/14/03: I'm posting this update a little early since there are some important changes to the FAQ (mostly just making a few rules "zero tolerance" that I'd been too much in the habit of breaking in the past) and, of course, to let everyone know about my highly anticipated St. Anger review. :)

Some CDs have not been reviewed yet...indeed a few things on this list aren't yet in the Gallery at all! Plus I've got a whole stack of CDs right here that I'm trying to find time to listen to, plus several more coming in the mail, etc. etc...well I promise all will be finished by the next update, hopefully no more than a month from now. At least, I'll try!!

6/30/02: I've compiled a bootleg list to make it easier for traders (and the FBI, lol) to see what I've got.

6/09/02: Some important announcements:
(1) I am no longer trading with anyone from BRAZIL, or any other South American country, for that matter. There are many reasons, the main one being all the SPAM I am getting from bootleggers and piraters who work out of these countries, sometimes with attachments up to 10 megabytes in size! I have no interest in waiting an hour for my email to download something I am going to delete on sight. So if you are from South America, *please* don't bother sending me any requests, they will not be read.
(2) Due to rising mail costs (and lack of money to pay for it), international trades in general are being cut back severely, especially vinyl trades. In some cases, I may request that the trader cover shipping costs.
(3) If you agree to send me something, whether it's for trade or for free (yes, people send me things out of the goodness of their own heart, go figure) you are expected to follow through on whatever it is you agreed to do. I get really, really paranoid when I send out my home address to people who are never heard from again. So don't give me your word on something unless you're gonna keep it, okay? I may start adding people to my BAD TRADER LIST if this contines!!
(4) Please, please, everyone please scan your computers for the KLEZ virus, ok? I've been getting two or three infected emails PER DAY...

3/1/02: I've added a Good Trader List to the bottom of the Links page.

2/21/02: It has come to my attention that some of the formatting on these pages don't look correct when viewed with Internet Explorer. Well, that's what you all get for caving in to Microsoft's quest for world domination. Deal with it.

3/08/01: Well, it's over. The federal court ruled that Napster must screen out all mp3s that the suing record companies want removed. And it does look like Napster is complying, as the screening has already begun. Just TRY and find a Metallica song now...(thank God I downloaded S&M and Live Shit before the axe came down!)

Actually, I think this really is the best possible situation. Napster will remain open for indie & unsigned bands, and I've always maintained the position that this HELPS the underground scene tremendously -- it's free promotion after all! And while unrestricted file-trading of big-name bands like Eminem and Britney Spears will certainly continue (take a gander at WinMX, Napigator and Gnutella), we will never again experience the wild and hedonistic anarchy of Napster at it's glorious peak (it's something like the 5th or 6th most popular website on THE ENTIRE INTERNET, after all!!) But I will always fondly remember those eight months when teeming mass millions of music listeners revolted against the greed, collusion, and oppressiveness of rich and evil record companies, and I'm proud to have been part of it.
